The photos are attached to Elephant Dung Paper and make an attractive note card.
Elephant dung may prove to be that resource. It is readily available. An adult elephant produces about 500 lbs of dung per day. An elephant’s diet is vegetarian, thus the waste produced is raw cellulose. Thoroughly cleaned and processed, the cellulose is transformed into a lovely textured product, called “Pachyderm Paper”.
If the elephant is used as an economic asset that contributes to the welfare of the people, then the villagers themselves will not want to see it disappear from their area. It is a way to convert a liability into an asset in conflict areas.
